Vegan Radio is back for reals. Derek has moved to NYC and recruited vegan activist / singer / songwriter Lo Vee as his new co-host. Together they play a revamped version of the Vegan Radio Theme Song (originally by Beloved Binge) to kick off a reinvigorated show based around their recent visit to the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary for their annual July Jamboree.
Episode 95 features an interview with Farm Sanctuary co-founder Gene Baur and animal caretaker Susie Coston. Farm Sanctuary is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and Gene & Susie share some of their thoughts and insights, as well as stories of animals.
May 14-16th, 2010 there will be vegan events going on all over the US. This short podcast features interviews with event organizers. Pamela Rice tells us about this year's Veggie Pride Parade in NYC on May 16th. Jessica Mahady talks about the Veggie Prom in NYC on May 14th. And finally, Billy Hulting returns to the show to talk about the Worldfest in Los Angeles on May 16th.
This is destined to be a Vegan Radio classic. Derek threads the story of his move to New Orleans through interviews with his yoga teachers and recordings of the Kirtan chanting featured at the beginning of the classes. Derek has been studying Jivamukti Yoga which was founded by vegans Sharon Gannon and David Life and taught at the Swan River studios in New Orleans.
Derek continues producing the show from New Orleans. This show centers around the 2nd annual NOLA Veggiefest, the Big Easy's vegetarian festival coming up on May 16th. Derek interviews one of the event's organizers, Jehan Strouse, who talks about the speakers, sponsors, organizations and entertainers that will be on hand. We feature music from Sweet Jones, who will be playing at the fest.
